I wanted to see if there would be any interest in starting a group build to inspire those of us who have some of these kits in storage to get them out and have some old-school fun (with or without mods).
So chime in here if you're up for it - the older 1/144 kits only take a day or so to build and paint.
If you don't know what L-Gaim is, here's a few links:

EDIT:
There's at least a few people interested, so it's officially on. No special rules, just build any kit from the L-Gaim series and post you work in progress pics here. I'll wait for more people to submit entries before I write up a list of whose doing what.
Let's say the initial deadline will be the end of March. So try to have something to show for yourself within the next 3 months. The 1/144 kits honestly only take a couple days to put together and paint, so show us what you've got. Any figure builders are welcome to participate as well.

Are the L-Gaim and FSS based on the same universe? I read that they share the same mech designer, but from reading up on the L-Gaim info off of mahq, even some of the mech names are similar (Auge, Bat-Shu, Blood Temple etc.)

Does the recent Real Robot Revolution L-Gaim with MORVABUL FRAME count?

The R3 L-Gaim Mk II totally counts.
I've got one too, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to build it yet. I kind of want to buy another one and just snap one first, then build the other with a full paint job.
Well, looks like I'll be getting one sooner than expected then. Hopefully, I can have it delivered within the month, and join my first GB.
Say, any specific rules to the GB? I'm have to say that I'm not well-equipped in painting items and skills, so I hope nobody minds a kit done with only minor spray-paint-jobs and Gundam markers.

... at least for starters.
I think I'm gonna go back to the noob school style and bristle brush paint it, I can't stand the thought of masking those tiny 1/144 details.
... and I guess I'll edit the top post to reflect that fact that this Group Build is now officially ON
ps. Rainguy, I never heard a a Saloons kit - got any info or pics you can put up about it? My Hobby Japan L-Gaim Mook has some cool pics of a 1/144 scratch-built Saloons if you need any color reference I can post some scans.

It's the gun, shield, and left arm. I might end up ABing the whole thing after all. I'm finally getting used to the feel of my airbrushes, and I'm getting better at avoiding sloppy overpainting - such a small model will help me practice avoiding sloppy drippy yuck.

A) It's partially built and glued already, and this was before I knew of such silly concepts as filling seams or using a side cutter to get the parts out of the trees, and
B) I kinda lost one of the pieces (half of one knee.)

I did a little detail painting too on a $3 SD kit that Chris built yesterday. Nothing like practicing on junky stuff like that to work on getting my speed up.
Chris put together one of those "First Grade" kits all by himself today too. He's gonna be quite a builder someday.
Someone I know went to a memorial service today for a guy who died suddenly, unexpectedly, and left two young kids behind. As for me, I haven't died yet, and I'm not planning on going out anytime soon. I should wear my vapor filter mask more often, though.
Had a pretty good day today.
I hope you did too

Anyway, I digged up all my lgaim kits. I only have 3 kits for L-gaim. They are 1/100 volks batshu, 1/100 volks Saloon, and 1/100 volks Pagorta.

I just want to get a kit finished for a change. It's been over 6 months since I finished anything, what with the strain of my separation/divorce and all that.
I started this group build to give myself a kick in the pants. If the D-Sserd goes well and quickly then I'll probably dig into my R3 L-Gaim Mk II for a more involved project.
Those Volks kits look amazing! I think the Saloons is the coolest, but I'd love to see you tear your way through all 3
More to look for on YJ once I get my old standard of living back (in a few years

Nearly done with gluing. Just a few more detail parts to fix in place. Then seam work, priming and painting.
I've never tried preshading before, so I think I'll have some fun trying that out on this piece.
I'll have to figure out my color scheme. Maybe a red base with a light clear-coating with gold or copper Pearl-Ex.

My GF is busy working backstage crew for a play a lot this weekend so I might actually get this done over the weekend.
I see much masking tape in my future...
