well, i mentioned this in the "Models you Purchased" thread, and now im gonna make a real thread on this. im really suppose to be working on my SD Zaku right now, but that seems boring compared to this. i also hoping to make a little tutorial for those who are just starting this hobby. i know im also jsut starting this, but i think it would be easier for a newbie to explain things to newbies. all i learned from the various members here im gonna try to combine. btw, a big Thank You to all the members of this forum for thier advice, encouragment, comment, compliments, jokes, being nice and everything else.

now onto business. "The Creapy Eva Project" is basically a newbie trying to make this:

into this:

why do this? for fun :D plus that is one of the coolest eva pics there is. plus, look what this guy made click here .

now, i shall begin the progress thread with a little tutorial of the most basic things.
( i have no idea why the heck i bothered putting my nick in every pic, probobly out of boredom, but the raws got deleted so i cant go back) ill apologies in advance for the crappy quality photos.

lets start. get all the trees out of the bags, put them where its convinient for you, i like to lay em out on the table. this is going to be just the basic assembly stage, youll need very few tools:
nail clipers(as Chi recommended, those special snippers are too expensive anyway)
a sharp knife(maybe two if you like)
Posted Image

one important thing, put on some music for fun :D
Posted Image

use the clippers to cut the needed parts off the tree, dont cut too close, you might have to waste time puttying it up later
Posted Image

now use a sharp knife to CAREFULLY cut away the extra stuff. people always tell me to cut away from myself, but that never worked for me. whether you cut away or towards yourself, find a way that youre comfortable with that doesnt leave you bleeding.
Posted Image

now that you got the parts out, just follow the manual and snap together the pieces. quiet fun :D

btw, one note on Bandai's HG-LM eva kits.
Posted Image
make sure you glue in the sole into that joint, if not, it will keep falling out when you try to pose the thing.

THE END of super basic tutorial
(part 2(prep-work) coming later)

Posted Image
Posted Image
yay, Eva-00 finally got someone to play with :D

k, now that i got the kit assembled, i can see how much work i have to do to get it into the pose i want. after a while i realized, im in on a looooooooooong ride, lots of stuff needs to be changed. other then the obvious stuff like the making the S2 engine, and making the left are all organic looking, im gonna need to modify the head(shorten it a bit somehow, make those creapy eyes and teeth), the armor near the neck needs to be extended farther front, the "wings" on the shoulders im gonna cut down a bit, the lower body, the hands, etc, blah, blah, blah.

now, a few test poses:

my halogen table lamp put on the floor, eva on the edge of the table, the pic came out surprisingly good, nice and creapy, as intended B) :

well, thats all the progress for now, since this isnt officially a priority project, it will take a while, i hoping to finish by Christmas. this is gonna be quiet hard for someone with so little experience as me, but with a lot fo time and effort i should be able to do it. :D

Let's see, so you'll need to sculpt the midsection and a set of mini denchers? . Good luck.

You don't have to be a pro to finish a great model! :) My *favorite* part about posting figure progress is having everyone virtually look over my shoulder while I do things and learn how to do it!

by all means ... BUILD! BUILD! BUILD! :)

yeah, thats just some of it. along with rebuilding the shoulder joints, the left arm, extending and shortening things here and there. this thing will probobly be made of more putty then plastic when im done (got some milliput to see how that stuff differes from Tamiya stuff, cuz if its around the same or better, its a lot more bang for your buck)

thanks for the encouragement guys :D

Longer it takes, the better it will turn out!!! ;)

Looking good so far, the picture of the Eva kit standing on the scanner looks awsome.

really long and boring day today, didnt feel like doing anything, just watched some anime.

well, here' a bit of info about what im planning to do with this:

the shoulder "fins" will be cut short by about 1 cm
Posted Image

the left arm is going to lose it's "fin", the whole arm will be puttied up, then some have some fancy technique used on it(i dont know which one yet thought, ill come with something :D ) to make it look organic, the hand will be joined to the arm by putty
Posted Image

on the torso, those balls on the shoulder are gonna go, the arms will be attached by pins to the sides, about 6-9mm lower then they were, the yellow circle is the aproximate size and locating of the S2 engine
Posted Image

also the back armor will be extended a bit over the shoulders
Posted Image

the approximate locationg of the arm pin(green dot) and the S2 engine(ugly yellow line)
Posted Image

left: original leg, right: how its going to be modified. the green things will probobly be made out of putty
Posted Image

the head is probobly be the most difficult part of this whole project( i might have to scratch build one, that should take a long while to achieve decent relusts). its going to be shortened, the eyes a bit bigger(big enough to accomidate the red circle drawn), and afew othe mods i have planned i cant remember at the moment.
Posted Image

also, most of the joints all over the kit will be removed, no need for them if it gonna stay in one pose(plus i can use them elsewhere :D )

well, its gonna a be a loooooooooooong and hard road, but i should be able to do this if i put my messed up little mind to it

That's a lot of planning for the work. But it should turn out good! Looking forward to your progress.

well, cant do something like this without even a little bit of planning :D

once again, didnt feel like working on the Zaku today, seemed too simple, so i started hacking away at the Eva.

the balls on the shoulders are gone so that the arms can be mounted lower
Posted Image

also had my way with the left arm, took a while to cut away the fin with a knife, couldnt find the mini hack saw. also, since i cant use Tamiya epoxy putty on rubber, it was stripped from the arm. now you can all see whats inside
Posted Image

the arm is a lot more flexible without the rubber
Posted Image

took this pic for fun, reminded me of the ep when Eva-02 got 0wn3d
Posted Image

and one last pic for this update, a crappy one. the Eva's right arm is mounted as it's suppose to be in the kit, the left arm has been messed around with a bit and mounted a few mm lower, but still no in it's final position
Posted Image

still have around 8 hours of free time today, more progress to come :D

well, progress fromt he rest of the day, mainly was hacking away at the torso, cut myself twice. now my sweat and blood are officially in this thing

i found a marble thats about the size i was looking for, now i need to make a mold form it and make a ball out of resin or something like that

after i did a bit of cutting, i checked if the ball fits in, it almost did, all the insides had to come out(marked red)
Posted Image

and so they did
Posted Image

another view
Posted Image

only then did i realize that i wasted my time, the whole ball wouldnt need to be able to fit in there since only about half the S2 engine shows, the other half might not as well exist. oh well, lesson learned

then i went to work on the left arm, since all the rubber was removed and only the "bones" left, i needed to beef that thing up with some putty, turned out better then i though. got the main shape preatty good, need to sand it tomorrow.
Posted Image

now a little bit of a tutorial on how i made the arm:

using the other arm as an example, i slapped on some putty, got it somewhat in shape, then went for the secret weapon, the toothpick. its been soaking in water for a few minutes, so the putty wont stick to it. just gently roll the toothpick around, trying to get the shape needed. its good to have at least 2 toothpick, while using one the other one is soaking. quiet an addictive process trying to get the perfect shape :D

other then the above i also did some cutting, puttying and filing here and there

well, thats all for today
