So I was pondering whether i should make a WIP or not, but whatever - here it is.

My latest resin kit, a Silicon-Tribe STURMDIAS. (aka Schuzrum Dias) - This is my third full resin kit, the first being the Qubeley and second a figure kit currently on the E2046 competion. (The Sinanju option parts don't cont :P) So i am still quite a newbie with resin.
The kit is based on the Rick Dias design (that appeared in the Renaissance of Zeta special in the Newtype magazine I think) from Mamoru Nagano.
As usual for Silicon Tribe the kit is LOADED with details, even in places that are impossible to see once the kit is assembled. Also as usual for ST the kit is a pain in the butt to assemble and pin (even thou much easier than then Qubeley), but more on that later on.
The kit comes with a hefty 187 parts.

I'll also writing a WIP on my blog
http://sl-blag.blogs...label/sturmdias
I try to not copy and paste each post from there to here or other way round, so if you are hyper eager to read about my humble attempts to build the Dias you can check there too (i also has bigger pics) :)

All the parts:

Posted Image <- huge rear booster vs Sinanju
Posted Image <- some closeup of the torso

If you have any idea what this part could be used for, please speak up. I have no idea. lol

Using neodym magnets for some parts:

cool stuff B)
Posted Image

Posted Image <- The huge rear boosters give quite some stress on the booster mount.

Also using Yellow Submarine/Hobby Base (the good stuff) joints in some places - the kit doesn't really for any sorts of posing, but it makes my life much easier compared to pinning a free pose kit into a symetrical pose with good weight distribution and stuff.

Current state of affairs:
Posted Image Posted Image

As for paint, I am planning to go with the classic Rick Dias / Sturm Dias red/black scheme as seen on the TV show (as opposed to the all red Nagano color scheme). Thou I'll probably make the rear tower boosters darkisch/black instead of red, but nothing is set in stone yet.

I was going to ask you for a WIP after seeing a preview pic on the workbench thread. This Schuzrum Dias looks like an awesome kit with nice proportions and details. Good luck with this project and can't wait to see more progress :D

For a Gundam fan it's as close as you get to a Mortar Headd kit.

Your WIPs are always welcome. Fantastic pics as usual. Where did you order the Yellow submarine joints from?

got them from hlj on their free express shipping promotion two weeks ago. But them seem to be backordered now. Don't settle for other brands thou, the yellow sub ones are pretty much the only ones that can hold heavy resin parts in place

Not too much going on. Pinned together a feet/leg in standing pose. (will later put an angle part in for a flying pose - SMS provided an extra "SMS-part" for making the feet angle extemely, but it looks just too much so i'll go with the standard part)

It's pretty fucking huge, here vs an AA battery.

Other exciting news: i need a new/another pin vise as my old one is too worn out to hold 1mm drills anymore. also have too order more neodym magnets, this kit is predestined for magnets.

Awesome news about the magnets - pics of how you got them to work with the joints would be appreciated!

Also, you're for sure going to do the flying pose?
