Since there will be more discussion about this new series as more info unfolds, might as well create a thread
for it to free up the other threads. So, fire away lol.

IMO looks more like a cartoon than a anime...

How anticipating are you towards the new Gundam Series (Gundam AGE)?  (Rank from most to least anticipation.)

Results.

Ah, judging from that poll, seems the anticipation is pretty low. I guess it's not just us fearing the outcome of this new series.

I have absolutely no worries with this series. I've never been truly hyped up about any Gundam series (partly because I don't follow it religiously, and partly because I've always been late to realizing there's a new Gundam series anyway), which leaves me room to be happily surprised whenever it turns out good. It also leaves me to be not quite as disappointed as I would otherwise be if I assigned it the anticipation of, say, a Full Metal Panic season 4.

Anyhoo, this one's looking good, if what I hear from you lot is true (can't be bothered to check the sources myself, see). Digimon character designs? Junya Ishigaki mecha designs? That means there's a fairly good chance of `) goggles HELL YEAH, and 2) organic robots HAH HAH TRY MAKING A MODEL KIT OUT OF THAT, BANDAI!

EDIT:

Damn you, smilies.

Well if this is any indication of the kits (specially those enemy suits that look like dragons or whatever) then they suck.

I think the AGE-1 can look cool like this fanart, given some with some sleeker bee-craft/MGish looking flare. I love the temptation of the idea and the thought of what will become of that ugly-ish design in a good modelers hands.

Initial reaction are a lot like when OO came out and was different. So I can hope.

I am constantly wondering if that thing in the center of the chest is going to be some kind of energy projection weapon or docks with some add-on. Anyway, looks childish, might be childish, might be Gaogaigar level of awesomeness, but right now nothing that sparks my interest.

I thought the 1/100 was an action figure, not a kit.

It would be a nice break from some overly serious gundam.

i keep thinking how this is similar to G gundam actually
I think that G gundam was there best series, personally
but apparently people doubted g-gundam at first too.

The gundam fans just seem hard to please

All i can say is that Time will tell.

In case people haven't observed the pattern yet:

When G came out, UC fans were like "YOU ARE NOT GUNDAM!  WHAT IS WITH THESE HIDEOUS DESIGN!"
Many years later, people see G as a very successful (and creative) series in taking Gundam franchise in the hot blood direction.

When Wing came out, UC and G fans were like "THIS IS SENTAI AND NOT GUNDAM!"
Many years later, people see Wing as a very successful series in taking Gundam franchise in a different direction.

When Seed came out, all of the above were like "OMG THIS IS JUST OYW RIPE OFF AND IS WORSE THAN G!"
Many years later, people see Seed as a very successful series in castng Gundam franchise with Bishōjo and Bishōnen.  (That and the toys sell very well.)

When Turn-A came out, almost everyone were like "ZOMG MUSTACHE WTF!  THIS IS NO GUNDAM, BOY, NO GUNDAM!"
Many years later, Turn-A has been viewed as one of the most unique Gundam series.  Bandai even commerated the honour of the 100th MG to Turn-A.  (Toy sales is another story, of course.)

When 00 came out, people were like "WHAT IS WITH THAT MARBLE AT THE CHEST!  AND WAIT, ALIENS??"
Now, some people already see 00 as one of the first Gundam series to have the protagonists fight against a non-human opponents.  (That and the first series to sell Boy-Love well.)

Tomino sent a message to all Gundam fans in Ring of Gundam.  And I think that message is to let go the past and embrace the future.
