Hey there

I was just wondering if any of you ordered from this retailer?

The prices are cheaper than http://www.hlj.com but I can't seem to order anything from them.  The order process won't except any of my credits and they don't reply to my emails.

Has anyone else have the same problem with them?

I ordered from them a couple of times.
They take quite long time to process the order and send it only via EMS, which is expensive...
I tried HLJ too and do like it more than Hobbysearch.

I've bought from hobbysearch a few times before and had no problem with them. I think both HLJ and Rainbow10 are the best ones that I often order from for my modeling needs.

For supplies I use Hobby search more than HLJ becasue they have better stock. I you HLJ and YJ for figures and R10 for all my paints because they have the best prices and every paint/supply you could ask for.
I aways use EMS when buying from japan, I don't like using sal.

If you buy from Hobby Search, be aware that they will not answer emails.

I preordered a couple of kits from HS and never got them. While it's not their fault that there weren't enough kits produced to cover all the preorders, they did not reply to ANY of my emails. I finally sent them a request to cancel the order and when I checked their site the next day, it was cancelled. So while they do not reply to emails, they do read them.

I've gotten a few things from them. They're pretty slow about answering their e-mails, but overall they're good.

I've ordered from these a fair bit

Yes, they are slow, bnut the nices thing about them is that they don't write the value on the green ticket, so the package will go through UK customs without any problems.

I stopped using them when they screwed up a Figure book, by sending me the wrong.
I complained and they didn't reply.

So they lost my custom.

If I need an original than I'll be sticking with HLJ

I've ordered with them once and now waiting for my second order (FM's Slave 1 + Jedi Starfighter). I shop with them only when it's necessary (cheaper than HLJ stuff, etc).

During my first order, I've ordered 3 HGUC GM Cold District but on the next day, it was marked as "Sold out". I shoot a mail to them to ask about my order status and got the reply on the next day. Got what I ordered after a week.

One thing about them is that they try to go international but their english could use some improvement. That's why I try not to use big/complicated words when I e-mail them.

I've ordered two kits from them and have had no problems.  Both orders arrived in about 2 weeks.  They take a week to process and then send by EMS, which takes about another week.

Both orders were fairly straight forward, so there was not any extra correspondence other than the order itself.  The only odd thing was they won't ship to P.O. Boxes, even though its by EMS.  I do not have mail delivery in my area so I put my physical address on the orders, and they went to the Post Office where my box is.  They will let you know immediately when it ships, so I notified the Post Office it was coming, and picked it up when it arrived.  Just not in my box!

I order from hobbysearch and hlj and found hobbysearch to be a bit quicker on the shipping (just put in a pre-order with them actually :) ). No complaints with either though.

I pay them through paypal, and use their conversion system to pay them, so never had any problems with payments.

Oops, yes, you are correct, they do not accept paypay.  They have a secure site for entering your credit card number.  The only problem is that when you are ordering, you do not know the full price of the shipping costs as it has not been calculated, so they are free to charge your credit card the order + shipping costs.  The past couple of times I ordered form them, I got a fair shipping cost.

I recommend you use http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/ <-- they take paypal.
